Jana Smith

Originally from Prague, Jana Smith has lived in Sheffield since 2015. She leads local Irish set dancing classes and keeps a strong professional and personal connection to Sona Sól.

Before her move to the UK, she established herself alongside Tereza as a dedicated set dance teacher in the Czech Republic. Working closely with her colleague Tereza, Jana traveled to various workshops across Europe, which allowed her to forge a significant bond with the Basingstoke SetsMad dancers and solidify her dedication to Irish set dancing. These travels were instrumental in her development, allowing her to build a broad network of connections within the international dance community and develop a diverse repertoire of dancing styles and new dances.

Driven by a desire to share her passion for set dancing with her local community, Jana started her classes in Sheffield in May 2026. While focusing on her local class, she remains an active participant in the wider dance scene, regularly attending sessions in Nottingham and Leeds to refine her own skills and support the dancing community. Furthermore, Jana maintains a strong professional and personal connection to Sona Sól. She is a firm believer in the power of dance as a universal language that can bridge differences and help build meaningful human connections.
